The Victor P (short for "Premium") was intended to be given as a bonus gift when a buyer purchased a magazine subscription, sheet music, or a large number of records or other gifts. It was of the most basic design possible, using a single spring motor, a small stamped steel horn and a very basic oak cabinet. There are 4 known variations of the "P", which are designated on the dataplate as "P", "P-1", "P-2" or "P-3". The "P-1" version is shown at left (see the product links for the P through P-3 versions). Differences are minor and usually involve a modification to the cabinet or hardware. The P series Victors were produced between 1902 and 1906. It is unknown how many were produced, since the factory records do not include this model.
